Our Journey

November 02, 2000 at the height of the Internet bubble Winston Small registered the domain JamaicanAffairs.com to connect Jamaicans living abroad and at home. This was long before the “Social Media/Network” buzz and it was visionary!! During the first year the site had over 5,000 registered users and a lot of buzz was generated. We connected Jamaicans from the top three communities: Schools, Churches and Businesses. Over 90% of Jamaicans (and other nationalities)  belong to at least one of the these three groups / communities:

Past student or student of an educational institution
Attends a religious organization
Own or work for a business / organization
With this fact in mind ReligiousAffairs.org was registered in July 2005 to focus on the religious communities. Handsonmediaservices.com takes care of the business communities and JamaicanAffairs.com the educational communities.

When it all got started the plan was to complete the Jamaican Network and then expand it to the rest of the Caribbean, hence the birth of  The Caribbean Network (http://www.carinet.org). The Caribbean Network grew into The Hands-on Network serving everyone.

The information of the members of the communities is tightly secured behind a firewall with sensitive information encrypted. For the ten plus years we never had a security breach. We don’t sell email list, or display member’s email addresses on the web sites. All the marketing services we offer, takes place within our secured system. If you indicated that you wish to receive information from us or any of our partners, that information will be sent from our system and our system alone. What we are saying, is that security is tight and remains our top priority.
